Headteacher's Message

Hopefully you will recognise that my enthusiastic praise for our boys is indeed heartfelt and warranted as you read through and enjoy the pages of our last newsletter of this academic year.

Dear Parents

As we say a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 2 pupils, I believe we have succeeded in helping them to develop into well-rounded young people; we are determined that every boy achieves his best academically but in addition, they have all contributed fully to Squirrels life. I know all have gained new experiences and made healthy friendships and now rightly feel ready to move onto their junior schools.

We all sincerely believe that a happy boy is a fulfilled learner, and that can also be said for the EYFS and the Year 1 groups. They have had a very successful year and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for the start of another exciting year.

As well as Year 2 boys some staff members are also moving on.

Miss Darby will be leaving to specialise in Mathematics at a secondary school and Miss Hallenga will be joining a school in London. Mrs Cowlrick leaves us to pursue her career in the EYFS. Miss Dijksterhuis also leaves us for pastures new – and we wish them all the best in their new adventures.

We welcome Mrs Khan to the Year 2 team and Miss Cave will join Year 1. Both are well qualified teachers with experience of their year groups so I welcome them to our KS1 staff team. The boys have now had the chance to meet their new teachers and I know are excited to move on through the school.

Miss Amy Warner joins us as our new Learning Support Assistant to be with Miss Cogger in the EYFS team. Miss Cogger will also have a busy time as she becomes Mrs Greener during the summer holidays.

We always have exciting and busy times here at Squirrels, and this term alone on the staff team we had Miss Rance’s wedding as she became Mrs Logan in May, and Mr Morrison was thrilled with the arrival of his second daughter a wonderful little sister for Sophia.

My congratulations also go to Mr and Mrs Dodd who are expecting their second child in December. Mrs Dodd will be on maternity leave for two terms from January 2017.  Our team is growing!

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday and for those moving on I hope that you remember to always try your best to achieve your goals, and do remember to keep us updated with your progress. I look forward to welcoming our new Reception boys to our school and our ‘new’ KS1 cohort on Thursday 1st September.

Best Wishes and Happy Holidays.

Tracey Buck
