Friends of Squirrels

What an adventure we have had this term... We all thoroughly enjoyed the Wild West Summer Fair, when the school was transformed into a frontier town, complete with cowboys!

Well done to all the boys who took part in the tennis and chess tournaments through the term, the finals of which were hotly contested at the summer fair; and to the gymnasts and choir who performed so beautifully. A huge thank you must go to the committee, class reps, and parents who all put so much effort in making the day so fantastic! What better way to celebrate the end of another year at WCPS, and commemorate our boys who have all achieved so much this year.

2014-15 has been a great year for the FoS committee. We have all greatly enjoyed the main events of the year - the Quiz Night, Christmas Fair, Wine Tasting Evening and Summer Fair.  These events have been great fun to organise and have raised over £6,500 for the school and £650 for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, in honour of one of our boys receiving treatment there.

The funds we have raised this year have contributed so much our boys’ school life: play equipment for the orchard garden; outdoor teaching aids for the outdoor classrooms; cameras and other equipment for ICT; a traditional Storyteller, Science Day, History workshops; a visit from the children’s author - Simon Murray; Tim Davies was this year’s artist-in-residence; the team shirts, medals & trophies at the spectacular Year 2 Rugby World Cup tournament… good luck to  next year’s Year 2 boys who can look forward to their own tournament in the autumn term!

As we come to the end of the school year, we sadly say goodbye, and thank you very much, to our wonderful, dedicated Year 2 committee members. We wish you and your boys all the best at your new schools.  FoS rely on the tireless efforts of the parents who arrange and run the fundraising events, so we would love to hear from you if you are passionate about the school and would like to be involved, and have fun organising next year’s events.

We do hope that you you have enjoyed the 2014-2015 school year as much as we have and we wish you all a very good summer.  We look forward to seeing you all in September.
