This year’s French Day took place on Wednesday February 7th.
As well as dressing in the colours of the famous “Tricolore” flag, it was “magnifique” to see so many boys dressed up like famous cooks or even famous people like Napoleon! The teachers also embraced the day with gusto by also dressing up.
Throughout the day, the boys engaged in a range of French-based learning opportunities across a number of curriculum areas including art, geography…
Tasting French food such as croissants, pains au chocolat and pains aux raisins was a definite highlight. The boys showed how adventurous they were by also trying a “chouquette”, a profiterole-type delicacy.
Freshwater Theatre Company visited and entertained the Reception boys with a very exciting “Story Hunt” workshop where they had to find clues in French to build the story.
Year 1 and Year 2 children watched and participated as characters in our 2 French tales “Jacques et le haricot Magique” et “Le Petit Chaperon Rouge”.
It was a day filled with fun! Fantastique! A big “Merci” to Friends of Squirrels for making it happen.
“Joyeuses Paques a tous!”
