Music Matters

Another fun term in music and in our new Performance Workshop. A picture paints thousand words so take a look at our termly offering. Reception continue to develop their instrumental skills which this term has included using the Hand Bells.

Years 1 and 2 have been learning more about writing music and are able to write and perform their own rhythmic notations. Very impressive indeed. Year 1 produced a remarkable Easter Performance which presented the complexities of this seasonal tale in a most child friendly fashion. Each boy sang and acted with great skill. I hope you are very proud of them all.

Throughout the term boys in year 2 have been bringing in the instruments that they are learning at home. This always excites and encourages their friends to want to have a go and to ask the most difficult questions they can muster!

Finally, this term we launched the new Music Performance Workshop and for our first adventure we explored the notion of FIRE. Songs, poetry, a short play and a fire dance complete with streaming ribbons. These invariably got caught up with one another but the boys rapidly learned the reality of the saying ‘ the show must go on’. When a tangle occurred the boys simply both dropped their ribbons and continued dancing as is they hadn’t a problem in the world.
