We've had another busy term of Sport this Spring.

Boys in Seventh Heaven at Prospect House Tournament

On Friday 5th February eight boys from Year 2 represented WCPS in the Prospect House football tournament. Sixteen Schools competed in the tournament and Squirrels were the only team to win all seven of their matches conceding just one goal in all 7 games played! Harry was outstanding in goal, Edward, San and Rayan were rocks in defence, William, Oliver and Kameron showed flair and strength in midfield and Orson was electric up front. The whole team played some outstanding football. Congratulations to Edward, Harry, Kameron, Oliver, Orson, Rayan, San and William.

Tag Rugby

1C Vs Donhead Tuesday 23rd February

On Tuesday 23rd February 1C competed in their first tag rugby fixture and were victorious winning three out of four games played. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all the boys who were amazing at tagging and scored a hat full of tries. Congratulations to Shayan and Philip for their excellent tagging and Oliver, Isaac and James who were able to dodge oncoming defenders and accelerate away to score.

Year 2 vs Donhead Monday 29th February

The boys in year 2 travelled down to Donhead playing fields to play in their first tag rugby fixture of the year. The boys played fantastically well and worked really hard all round in a fixture that consisted of five wins and three losses. Man of the match performances by Aneesh, Christian, Oscar and Tristan for their sheer speed when scoring tries and Man of the match performances from Mujahid, Oli, Udai and Xavier for their quick fire tagging.

2AR & 2LC vs Willington School

On Tuesday 22nd March the boys 37 boys travelled to Beverly meads to play against Willington School in a tag rugby match. Squirrels were fantastic at passing the ball on to their team-mates and when defending the boys made it very hard for the opposition to get pass them with their quick fire tagging. Across the six matches played, WCPS drew one match and won the remaining five. Well done boys!

Year 1 Interhouse Rugby

On Wednesday 24th March we held our annual Year 1 Interhouse Rugby. The boys had a fabulous morning and Kingsmere were the final winners.

Football

2AR & 2ED versus Willington

On Thursday 12th January, 47 Year 2 boys travelled to Goals, New Malden to compete in a football fixture versus Willington School. It was a very successful fixture for the boys in 2AR and 2ED as they won five matches and drew one out of the six matches played.

Highlights as follows:

  • In the team captained by Rayan the team won 6-0, with Harry racking up four assists. 
  • Mujahid led his team to 7-1 victory.
  • Konstantinos kept a clean sheet in a game which ended 8-0.
  • Josh, Arun J and Alexander all had their shooting boots on as they ran out emphatic 12-0 winners.
  • Alexander M’s team fought hard to ensure a nil-nil draw
  • Murray was man of the match after scoring a wonder goal on the way to his team’s 2-0 victory.

Congratulations to all the boys who played in the fixture racking up a total of 35 goals with only 1 goal conceded. They were a credit to the school in the way they behaved and played. 

RJD vs Donhead

On Thursday 11th February the boys from RJD participated in a football fixture against Donhead which saw them win two games lose two games and draw one game. It was a thrilling fixture with lots of goals being scored by both teams. It was a pleasure to see the leaps and bounds the boys had come on since their first fixture in September.  

Man of the match performances from Alexander, Archie, Hari and Jake. Well done RJD!

RJG vs Donhead

On Thursday 3rd March RJG boys competed in their second football fixture of the year against Donhead. Right from the start it was noticeable to see the improvement that both teams had made. Rafe scored to take an early lead for Squirrels directly from kick off, it was quickly followed with a second goal. Rafe completed his hat trick when he dribbled past the opposition before scoring in the bottom corner.  Joseph and Jack also showed fine dribbling skills and close control as they weaved in and out of defenders to get their names on the score sheet too. Some fine goalkeeping skills were on display from both John and Jake.

Congratulations to RJG for a much improved footballing display.
