FoS Spring 2016

Our first-ever bingo & bhaji night was held on the 11th March in Orchard Hall.

This was a great success, socialising over a curry buffet and drinks, interspersed with a few games of bingo. Most of the guests were bingo novices (although we suspect the teachers of practising beforehand) but we soon got the hang of the bingo lingo. There was a great atmosphere, aided by the sports teachers, who stepped in to help with bingo calling and rose brilliantly to the occasion. A massive thank you to Mr Morrison, Mr McInnes, Mr Wright and Mr Bragg for their help on the night. Almost £400 was raised that night for Friends of Squirrels.

We also held a FoS coffee morning on the Monday after Mothers’ Day, which was a nice chance to catch up with other parents after drop-off. Alongside this, we held a second-hand uniform sale, which also raised funds for FoS.

This term, Friends of Squirrels has continued to fund activities to enrich the boys’ educational experience during their time at Squirrels, as well as donating 10% of funds raised to The Royal Marsden Hospital. We were delighted to fund a puzzle workshop and visits by storyteller Kevin Graal and author and illustrator Paul Geraghty on World Boy Day. A new playhouse for the outdoor classroom will also be funded by FoS.

In the summer term our main event will be the fair on Saturday 25th June, celebrating the boys’ achievements and a fun family day out. Please do put the date in your diaries.

As always, Friends of Squirrels is a team effort and we would like to thank everyone for their time and support, in particular the committee members, staff, class reps and other parents who have helped. Mums and dads are welcome to join Friends of Squirrels at any time and please do get in touch via the school office if you would like to become involved.
