Autumn French

What a delight to meet our new Reception boys and see how enthusiastic they are with their French lessons!

Our Year 1 and Year 2 boys were very excited to see our - now famous – puppet Mr Claude return to the classroom. They were keen to demonstrate to him how much French they have retained from our lessons last year.

Our main topics were “Getting to know You and Your Family”, colours and numbers, telling the date and the weather. We have developed our conversational skills and learnt how to tell others about ourselves with practising for instance “Comment ca va?” (“How are you?”) in Year 1, and “Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?” (“When is your birthday?”) in Year 2. We have made excellent progress through lots of interaction and games!

In addition to learning how to speak French this term, the boys have studied the country and culture of France. We spoke about Paris and the “Tour Eiffel”. We learnt how it got its name and talked about travelling to France under the sea on the Eurostar. We talked about baguette, cheese and how some French people eat snails and frogs legs! You will soon receive information about our “French Day” taking place in the Spring Term.

Lastly we enjoyed finding out about the Christmas celebrations in France and the boys look forward to singing their French song in the Carol Service, with the on-going support of Mr Appleby!

“Joyeux Noel et Bonne annee 2017!”
