In a very successful autumn term, the results improve as the boys move from EYFS through to Year Two.

RJD + Half of RJG vs Donhead Thursday 1st October

The boys played in their first ever fixture for WCPS. It was enjoyed by all who took part in what was an exciting encounter of end to end attacking with both teams scoring lots of goals. We all look forward to the rematch next term.

RHC + Half of RJG vs Donhead Thursday 15th October

The boys from RHC and RJG represented squirrels at home against local rivals Donhead. It is always a fairly evenly matched fixture with both teams scoring plenty of goals. This one didn’t disappoint with some great goals, fantastic dribbling and excellent goal keeping on display.

1H vs Donhead Monday 21st September

1H played their first fixture of the season against Donhead. They played 4 games, winning one drawing one and losing two. Man of the match was Fraser Cole who scored a hat-trick. Devan Wadhera and Charlie Birch put on a fantastic display of dribbling and were very unfortunate not to score on a few occasions. Harry Crump had a great performance in defence.

1C vs Donhead Monday 28th September

The boys from 1C played extremely well in this fixture playing four matches and winning all four scoring a superb 14 goals (7 of those in one match!) and conceding just the one. Luke Adams and Christopher Dunckley showed very good ball control dribbling past the opponent’s defenders on numerous occasions. Cameron Cole, Sanjit Kumar and Samvrit Subin got in on the act each scoring braces. George Butterworth scored from an impossible angle striking the ball sweetly from the side-line and into the back of the net. Isaac scored a superb goal and finished it off with an equally good celebration with team mate Ruairidh.

1D vs Donhead Tuesday 29th September

The boys from 1D played some outstanding football as they took on Donhead. Of the four games played Squirrels won three and lost just one. There was excellent goalkeeping by Max Turner, fantastic defending by Dougie Adams and Arran Clay. In addition, Harry Weston and Ethan Terlouw put on a strikers master class as they each scored wonderful goals.

Year 2 v Kings College School Monday 14th September

The first fixture of the year is always a tough one, especially when playing against boys one year older. However the boys played with determination throughout the whole 30 minutes. WCPS played 8 games, lost 7 and drew one! A special mention must go to Gianluca della Ratta Cabrera, Josh Patel, Tristan Zadeh, Aarav Patel, Alastair van der Meer and Ishaan Chinoy who battled hard to secure a very impressive 3-3 draw.

Cranmore Football Tournament Saturday 3rd October

Seven boys from year 2 were selected to play in the Cranmore Football Tournament along with nine other schools. Squirrels started the tournament strongly against Donhead and managed to secure a comfortable 2-0 win. The rest of the group games were played in a similar vein with the boys with Squirrels winning every game in their group except one which they drew 1-1 with Cranmore A.

After a very good start in the group stage game the boys qualified for the semi-final against old adversaries Downsend School. Fantastic goalkeeping by the inform Oliver Rees who kept a clean sheet and WCPS advanced into the final with a 2-0 victory.

The final was played against Cranmore A (who we drew against in the group game), both teams reaching the final undefeated. From the start of the game it was end to end football with both teams having chances and the fast paced game was causing both teams to fatigue as it was their 6th game of the day. Unfortunately we lost the final 2-0; but the boys represented WCPS superbly and were a credit to the school!

Year 2 vs Donhead Monday 5th October

WCPS took eight teams down to Donhead School to compete in what was a very successful fixture. In the eight games played Squirrels won six, drew one and lost one. The boys all played with determination and excellence. There were a few notable performances from the following boys: Orson Billington, Adam Fazlaine, Rory Keller and Oliver Clark.

Year 2 v Kings College School Monday 9th November

The return leg against KCS proved to be an even closer encounter than the previous one. The boys played some fantastic football and even though the opposition were one year older, Squirrels played with their characteristic “never say die” attitude. All the boys were set a target of either scoring more goals than last time or conceding less than last time and they went onto achieve their target.

Congratulations to the team, ably captained by San Lee who won 2-1 against KCS . The other victorious members of the team included William Baker, Orson Billington, Oliver Rees and Rayan Hussain.
