On Thursday 8th October, WCPS celebrated the Harvest Festival with a delightful assembly led by the Reception classes.
The Harvest Festival is a celebration of the food grown on the land and marks the end of the main harvest season. We are reminded to give thanks for the crops that have been grown and celebrate the end of the hard work involved in reaping them.
The Reception boys sang Big Red Combine Harvester and It’s Harvest Time with great enthusiasm. They also performed a special harvest poem, I Plant a Little Seed. All of the children enjoyed preparing for the performance and presented their first assembly with superb confidence and expression.
Orchard Hall was decorated by an impressive display of food collected for local people in need. The Kingston Food Bank has expressed great thanks for the generous donations made by the pupils and parents of all year groups.
We are very grateful to Rev. Crossley for her thought provoking contribution and for concluding the Harvest Festival with a prayer of thanksgiving.
