New Staff

Our new staff talk about their first term at WCPS.

Catherine McKeon

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term at WCPS. The boys are delightful, full of enthusiasm and eager to learn. It is a privilege to be part of their early education and it has been fascinating to watch their development in literacy and maths, art and music.

I would like to thank all the staff who have made me feel very welcome, in particular the Reception team. Squirrels is a great community to be part of. Thank you also to all the wonderful parents who have been so supportive and positive.

I look forward to the Spring term and to working with the boys in a wide variety of interesting and exciting learning activities.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term at Squirrels, it has literally flown by.  I feel so lucky to work in such a warm, supportive and positive learning environment. I would like to thank all the staff who have made me feel so welcome.

You have made me feel part of the Squirrels team from day one and I am very grateful to you all.  I would also like to thank the parents who have been so friendly and supportive and have also made me feel very welcome.  Last of all and most importantly, I would like to say a huge thank you to the boys in 2AR.

The boys have been absolutely fantastic this term.  They are always so polite and come to school with such smiles on their faces, which is lovely to see.  The boys continue to impress me with how extremely hard they work and with the wonderful effort they put into all they do.  It is so lovely to see how proud the boys are of all their achievements, resulting from their hard work, it is truly a pleasure to teach them all.

I look forward to teaching at Squirrels over the coming terms and would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Kieran Wright

My first full term at Squirrels has flown by. I have been welcomed warmly into the school by the staff, boys and the parents.

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching all of the boys and it has been a real pleasure. All of the pupils have a readiness and keenness to listen and learn which I am sure is why they are progressing at such a fast rate.  Whether it’s on the playground, in lessons or in external fixtures the boys have such a positive response and attitude with a "play to win, lose with a grin" ethos it makes working here a fantastic place to be and I'm thoroughly looking forward to next term.

Mrs Silverlock – French Teacher

My first term at WCPS has simply flown by.  Having spent three years on the other side of the fence (quite literally) as a mother of a Squirrels’ boy, it is very exciting to be initiating the French programme throughout the school.  The boys have really taken to French with enthusiasm, enjoying the songs and puppets we use nearly every week, and I frequently hear a cheerful, ‘Bonjour, Madame!’ when out shopping or walking my dog on the common, which is delightful.  I am very much looking forward to seeing the boys make progress with their understanding and speaking of their new language over the coming year.
